More about "Frail - Strombolicchio"
This ink drawing was created under the term "frail". The artist remembers a trip to southern Italy: a lighthouse is enthroned on the remaining rocky remains of Strombolicchio and still gives orientation to ship travellers today. The small rocky island off Stromboli looks fragile when you sail around it by boat, even though it rises steeply out of the Mediterranean from pure volcanic rock. The ink was used to great effect on the rock formation.
The black passe-partout underlines the fine drama of the small scene. Framed in an exchangeable glass frame with black wood (pine) - 7.9 x 7.9 in (20 x 20 cm) matching black passepartout with white core.
